"Never Too Old to Pla" is this year’s theme for Older American Month 2012.
Here at the we continue to recognize and celebrate the value the older adult brings to our community. Their participation in social, creative and physical activities offered at the Senior Center has proven health benefits, including retaining mobility, muscle mass, and cognitive abilities.
The spotlight is on the role the older adults play in sharing their experiences, wisdom, understanding and passing that knowledge to other generations in a variety of significant ways. Studies show the older adults who interact with families, friends, and neighbors across generations enrich the lives of everyone involved.
Family members who had a significant relationship with a grandparent or an elder noted that these relationships helped them to shape their values and life choices and also gave them a sense of identity and roots.
