NAGC Presents 'Compost: The Sweet Smell of Success'

The following was submitted by the North Andover Garden Club.

The North Andover Garden Club will present Compost: The Sweet Smell of Success with Julie McIntosh Shapiro of the Harvard University Herbaria on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, 7 p.m. at 196 Main St., North Andover.

Free and Open to the public.  Julie McIntosh Shapiro will discuss her methods of composting in a delightful talk on how to recycle lots of things with a backyard composter, from sponges and corncobs to milk and paper towel rolls.  She will explain the step-by-step process in setting up your bin, demystifying this worthwhile task from start to finish. You will learn how to prevent your compost pile from having unpleasant odors, discover the microorganisms ready and waiting to devour your refuse, and learn what they need to get the job done right.

The North Andover Garden Club, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was founded in 1920 and whose mission is to further the civic beautification of North Andover, horticulture, flower arranging, and conservation.
