Memorial Day in North Andover

Here are the parade details.

Monday is Memorial Day, the day on which we stop and reflect on soldiers who have given their lives for their country. North Andover honors them with a parade and services at Ridgewood Cemetery.

According to the Patriotic Observance Committee, this year's service will honor Cpl. Sean Gallagher, a Marine who was killed during the terrorist attack in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1983. His mother, Barbara Gallagher, will be a guest of honor.

North Andover High School graduate and soon-to-be West Point graduate Michael Manougian will also speak. Music will be played by the North Andover High School Marching Band.

The Parade will form on the Common at Andover and Osgood streets at 10 a.m. and will go right onto Massachusetts Avenue. It will turn left onto Salem Street and stop at Ridgewood Cemetery for the Memorial Ceremony.

After the ceremony, the Parade will proceed back to the Common and disperse from there. There will be a flag-raising and reception at the VFW Post 2104.

If it rains, services will be held in the Middle School Veteran’s Auditorium at 10:30 a.m.
