Hurricane Isaac Rescue Dogs Ready for Adoption

The dogs were transported from Florida to Massachusetts this week.

Twenty-eight dogs that were in the path of Hurricane Isaac last week were provided shelter by the (NEAS) and they are ready for adoption.

On Aug. 26, which was in the path of the storm. 

NEAS Development Director Laurie McCannon said the organization was "pleading for us to take in 28 of their dogs ahead of the evacuation that [had] been mandated for their town (Crestview/DeFuniak Springs) in Florida due to Hurricane Isaac."

Dogs were in foster homes and their caregivers refused to leave them despite the threat of the storm, according to the shelter. 

NEAS sprung into action and organized transport and arranged space for the dogs at their Salem shelter.

On Thursday, Development Director Laurie McCannon confirmed "the Florida dogs arrived this morning safe and sound."
