Make Your Day Great at Good Day Cafe

For ten months, the cafe on High Street North Andover has been offering customers healthy alternatives for breakfast and lunch.

Good Day Cafe, East Mill, 19 High Street, specializes in home baked goods, soups and sandwiches. Whether you are interested in breakfast, brunch, or catering, the food here is prepared from scratch with all natural ingredients according to owner Kathy Santoro.

Located across from and Schneider Electric, the cafe which opened in December 2010, has also provided in-house catering for them and many of the other local businesses in the East Mill building.

"Our mission is provide a superior quality of food," said Santoro who owns the cafe along with her husband John. She pointed out that they roast their chicken, turkey, ham and roast beef instead of using deli meats. She added that all the produce is fresh, and the dressings are made from scratch.

"We have a  different philosophy, and we have a unique niche in town," she said. The coffee is organic, locally roasted with a completely different taste, and they use local beef.

The cafe is a family affair with Santoro's sister in-law Debbie managing the day to day operations. John's family formerly owned a restaurant, and her grandfather owned a bakery. Santoro's dad, also a baker, is at the cafe at 5 am making breads and frostings. "It takes a village,' she said.

A popular dish for breakfast is the stuffed croissants which are filled with cheese and choice of ham, turkey or spinach which costs $3.50. Santoro said they are one of the few places in the area that offer a bagel, cream cheese and lox combination.

There is always a hot lunch item, and the daily specials are listed on their facebook page. Santoro said everyone likes the Tuscan sandwich with roasted tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese and basil for $7.00.

"Our homemade spicy ketchup is spectacular, and all our dressings are also from scratch," she said.

The cafe is now offering healthy grab and go sandwiches.
