Five Things You Need to Know: Oct. 31

Happy Halloween.

Today is Wednesday, Oct. 31. Here are five things you need to know.

  • Rainy Day: Temperatures are expected to be in the low 60s most of the day, with scattered showers throughout the day as well.
  • Power Outages: Much of the power restoration in town is complete. National Grid is working to restore power to the rest of the town. Stay with Patch for updates on that.
  • Postponed: As crews clean up trees and wires, trick-or-treating has been postponed until Saturday.
  • Photos: Upload your photos of the Hurricane Sandy here.
  • This Day in History: In 1922, Benito Mussolini became prime minister of Italy. In 1864, Nevada joined the United States. In 1941, Mount Rushmore was declared complete after 14 years of work. In 1952, the United States detonated its first hydrogen bomb.
