  • This Day in History: In 1859, Charles Darwin published "On the Origin of Species," explaining his theory of evolution through natural selection. In 1940, Nazis closed off the Jewish ghetto in Warsaw, Poland. In 1963, Jack Ruby shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald live on national television. In 1993, Congress approved the Brady gun control bill.
