  • This Day in History: In 1798, the first brawl occurred in the House of Representatives took place, when Congressmen Matthew Lyon and Roger Griswold fought on the House floor. In 1844, Richard Theodore Greener became the first African American to graduate from Harvard University. In 1933, "The Lone Ranger" debuted on radio. The program ran for 2,956 episodes and ended in 1955.In 1972, British soldiers shot and killed 13 Roman Catholic civil rights marchers in Northern Ireland on what is known as "Bloody Sunday."
