Five Things You Need to Know: Jan. 13

We're in for a windy Friday.

Today is Friday, Jan. 13. Here are five things you need to know:

  • Wet and Windy: Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-40s most of the day, with rain throughout the day as well as strong winds.

  • This Day in History: In 1128, Pope Honorius II granted a papal sanction to the military order known as the Knights Templar, declaring it to be an army of God. In 1794, President George Washington approved the addition of two stars and two stripes to the American flag after Vermont and Kentucky were admitted to the union. In 1990, in Virginia, L. Douglas Wilder took the oath of office as the nation's first elected black governor.
