Five Things You Need to Know: April 2

Some news with your morning coffee.

Today is Monday, April 2. Here are five things you need to know:

  • Cool Day: Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-40s most of the day, with some rain throughout the day as well.
  • Best Of: This week's Best of Patch Readers' Choice contest is about where to have taxes done locally, so make sure to vote.
  • Mayor: And just when you thought election season was over, we're launching our Unofficial Mayor of North Andover contest today as well. Check back for that this morning and get your nominations to us.
  • Patch-ify Yourself: Ever wonder how to use Patch to your advantage or what various things you can do with the site?
  • This Day in History: In 1792 - The Congress passed the Coinage Act to regulate the nation's coins. In 1865, Confederate President Davis and most of his Cabinet fled the Confederate capital of Richmond, Va. In 1963, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. began the first non-violent campaign in Birmingham, Ala. In 1984, John Thompson became the first black coach to lead his team to the NCAA College Basketball Championship.
