Five Things to Know: Cut-A-Thon

  • Spring Day: Temperatures are expected to be in the high 60s most of the day, with clear sunny skies.
  • Meeting: The School Building Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. p.m. at 601 Main St.
  • Cut-A-Thon: A local salon will have a "Cut-A-Thon" on Monday to benefit the family of the 8-year-old boy killed in the Boston Marathon tragedy.
  • Blood: There will be a blood drive at Osgood Landing Wednesday.
  • This Day in History: In 1861, the Maryland legislature voted against seceding from Union. In 1941, the Boston Bees changed their name to the Braves. In 1945, the Nazi death camp Dachau was liberated. In 1986, Roger Clemens of the Boston Red Sox set a major league baseball record by striking out 20 batters.
