Digging Out: North Andover Cleans Up After Storm [VIDEO]

What a mess it left behind.

So as it turns out, that "little snowstorm" that was supposed to leave just a few inches of snow surprised us and left a lot more.

Up through Thursday evening, weather forecasts called for three-to-six inches of snow in the Merrimack Valley. But when Friday morning arrived, it looked a little like that blizzard we had last month.

When the snow stopped Friday afternoon, North Andover had about a foot of new snow on the ground -- as well as a big mess to clean up.

"With school being canceled, that assisted greatly in the morning commute," North Andover Police Lt. Charles Gray said. "But we got a lot more snow than we were expecting, and it was tough to keep up with it."

Gray said there were several vehicles off the roads Friday morning. Sutton Street and Route 125 were difficult to travel.

By late afternoon, driving was much easier in most areas around town.

Plow drivers worked into the evening clearing snow off the roads. The Division of Public Works has already gone over its snow removal budget. Half of that $750,000 budget was used up in the February blizzard.
