Women take the wheel at car-buying seminar

LAWRENCE, MASS. – More than two dozen women had a chance to get up to speed on car buying when Merrimack Valley Credit Union hosted “Women, Wheels & Wine.” The free seminar was the latest in a series of events to give members of the community useful financial information. The topic for this one was inspired by recent research that shows women buy 54% of the cars in the United States, and influence 84% of all vehicle purchase decisions. Still, most women dread the car buying experience because they often get ignored, patronized, or just plain ripped off at car dealerships.“As a community credit union, we help our members finance auto purchases every day,” said Merrimack Valley Credit Union CEO Peter Matthews. “But even before they come to us for a loan, it’s important that they know how to shop for the car they want and feel confident that they’re getting the best deal.”Sipping wine and enjoying other refreshments, the women attending the seminar learned which important aspects of a car to consider and how to comparison shop. They also received some valuable negotiation tips that could save big bucks in the long run.Join Merrimack Valley Credit Union’s Facebook community or visit our web site to stay informed about upcoming FREE events!
