North Shore Food Buzz: Beverly Hot Dog Cart Vendor Has License Revoked

When you're looking for a night out and a break from cooking, you might want to know what's new not just where you live, but also in nearby North Shore communities.

Here's our round up of the latest food news in the area.

Beverly

The city has pulled a hot dog vendor's license after he allegedly assaulted an elderly man. The alleged violence didn't have anything to do with John Doyle's work slinging nitrates outside the Bowl-O-Mat. Here's more background from our initial story, when the city took up the case. The Globe reported on Thursday that the city has indeed taken away his license.

Marblehead

A new bakery is opening soon at 146 Washington St. Orchard Bakery has told Patch they'll be serving homemade bread and pastries made by a chef with a New York pedigree.

Warwick Place is open for business, including Palmers Restaurant and an attached high-end movie theater and cafe. One of our Patch editors ate at Palmers over the weekend, and said it was awesome. We hope to do a post about the restaurant soon. As you may recall, it is a Marblehead outpost of the popular Andover eatery run by John Palmer Ingalls.

Peabody

Farmers market season is upon us. Just this week, Peabody's Farmers Market opened. It is on the lawn at City Hall on Tuesdays from 1-6 p.m.

If the scorching weather has you craving ice cream or frozen yogurt, one of each kind of place just opened in the Tanner City.

Salem

North Shore residents can count on Salem for new restaurants. Ones either recently opened or soon-to-open include the high-end Opus, the Red Line Cafe on the pedestrian walkway through downtown, Melita Fiore Cakes,  Firenze Trattoria and, at the other end of the spectrum from Opus, Honey Dew Donuts.

Swampscott

This won't be news to longtime residents of the seaside town, but a great place to cool off by the beach is Red Rock Bistro Beach Food. As they have for many years, they keep a dispenser of free cool water available for anyone who wants hydration.
