Local Shopping For a Cause

A local shop is having fundraising initiatives for breast cancer research.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and one local shop is helping promote the cause.

is having several fundraising efforts in October, and a portion of sales will go to breast cancer research.

One of the bigger innitiatives will involve jewelry designer Chan Luu of Los Angeles. Chan has desgned special bracelets for breast cancer awareness, and she will donate 50 percent of all proceeds from the bracelets to Breastcancer.org.

"In addition, we are going to have Tervis Tumbler mugs, Twist & Pout Lip Clips and Holiday Ornaments with the breast cancer awareness ribbon on sale throughout October in which 10 percent of the sales will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation dedicated to education and research about breast cancer causes, treatment, and the search for a cure," Rose and Dove owner Kellee Twadelle said.

Founded in 2007, Rose & Dove is located at 579 Chickering Road and specializes in artful and gift selections for various occasions.

"We also have great Halloween decorating and hostess gift ideas on display now at the store," Twadelle said.
