Here is a look at some recent business openings and happenings on the North Shore. Have you noticed a new shop and have been wondering what it is? Leave us a note in the comment section and we will check it out.

North Andover

Pazzo Gelato brings the taste of Italy to North Andover andHeav'nly Donuts arrives in town. In other news, the summer dining experience at Smolak Farms returns and Fitness Together raised a lot of cash for the One Fund.

Andover

Philips North America helps clean up a neighborhood in Haverhill and Raagini Indian Bisto has had its liquor license suspendedafter serving alcohol to a minor. There's also a new Thai restaurant in town.

Peabody

There are two more frozen yogurt shops now open in Peabody --Yo'Gut Style on Lowell Street and Frotopia on Route 114. Louie's Lix also opened recently in South Peabody to give the ice cream market some competition. In other news, Peter Routses has sold the family business, the Wardhurst, to Danvers' Spero Demakes and plans to retire. Rice Theory will also be opening soon on Route 1.

Salem

Take a look at that $45 million development on Dodge Street.The Red Line Cafe is opening this week on Essex Street and there are a number of other eateries opening around the city soon, such as Opus. In other news, the Launch Cooperative on New Derby Street opened last month and caters to local freelancers, work-from-home professionals and small businesses by giving them a home base for cheap, and there's a new gas station and convenience store in the works on Lafayette Street.

Beverly

Beverly-based shoe distributor Karhu has sold off a portion of its business to the New Wave Group and the state is allowing farmers to market their wares at the rest stop off Route 128 at Brimbal Avenue. In other news, did you know the Cabot Street Cinema property is for sale and what should take over the empty Cornerstone Liquors spot at the corner of Cabot and Rantoul?

Danvers

Spero Demakes recently bought himself a restaurant in Peabody -- the Wardhurst -- and Dunkin' Donuts has jumped the highway and set up shop with a drive-through at 420 Newbury St. (the southbound side). Meanwhile, the owners of the Lucky 7 Arcade at the Liberty Tree Mall are under investigation for alleged illegal gaming operations. And speaking of gaming, Cordish Companies appear unlikely at this time to pursue any plans for a slot parlor at the mall.

Hamilton-Wenham

It came and it went -- Sarni Cleaners on Bay Road has closed up shop after about a year in business. Also in store for Bay Road is anew shop focused on fly fishing and outdoor clothing, which will open this summer.

Marblehead

Warwick Place is now open for business; the Hurricane is also reopening soon with a new look and name: the Barrelman. In other news, Joey D's Italian Grill is no more, there's a new bakery on Washington Street and Marblehead's new Chamber of Commerce Executive Director is settling in.

Swampscott

The former Jewish Rehabilitation Center is slated for conversion into a 184-unit apartment complex if the town grants a permit for the project. In other news, the Swampscott Farmers Market is now open and so is Sea Glass Wine and Beer.

Lynnfield

The fight against allowing a cinema at the MarketStreet development picks up steam, also the new Herb Chambers Cadillac dealership on Route 1 is open. In other news, a local Army veteran has started up his own fitness boot camp.

Wakefield

Wakefield Sunoco is on a health kick and a local investment firm just purchased a $157 million office building.
