Dining Out in North Andover, Academy Awards Style

Will you be tuning in to the Oscars Sunday?

The 85th annual Academy Awards will be tonight in Los Angeles.

But you don't have to be on a red carpet in Hollywood to have Oscar fun. You can get into the spirit right here in North Andover. And here are five local places you can do that, slightly themed to the Best Picture nominees.

1. Bollywood Grill

In "Life of Pi," a boy from India embarks on an ocean adventure with a tiger that tests his courage and his strength. North Andover isn't quite as dangerous, but you can sample some Indian cuisine at Bollywood Grill.

try their curried mussels, some Kali Mirch Ke Tikke (if you like things hot and spicy), or any of the other various Indian flavors Bollywood offers.

2. Jimmy's Culpeppers

In "Silver Linings Playbook," a man with bipolar disorder works to get his life together with the help of a new female friend. The film has a football theme throughout. So head over to Jimmy's Culpeppers for some sports pub food: Buffalo Chicken Cheese Fries, BBQ ribs and more. The movie is set in Philadelphia so try their Philly Cheeseburger. And of course, Culpeppers has a pizza named after Robert DeNiro, who stars in "Silver Linings Playbook."

3. Joe Fish

In "Beasts of the Southern Wild," a young Louisiana girl named Hushpuppy and her father weather a flood in their secluded bayou community. At Joe Fish, you can enjoy a variety of Cajun seafood dishes, such as the classic blackened catfish, Cajun grilled shrimp, their Bayou Catfish linguine dish, Joe’s Jambalaya and more.

4. Jaime's Restaurant

In Ben Affleck's "Argo," a government agent seeks help from Hollywood to make a fake movie in Tehran to help rescue several hostages in that city. Jaime's Restaurant not only has several flat screen TVs in their bar/lounge area on which you can watch the Oscars. They also have a couple California-themed sandwiches, the California Cheeseburger and California Veggie Burger. Also it's been said by some that owner Jaime Faria looks like a movie star, so there you go.

5. The Loft

"Lincoln" is a film about the nation's 16th president and his triumph in both liberating all Americans and uniting the country. So any culinary tribute to this film should be all American. The Loft is a great place for that. Not only will the rustic old-time appeal of the building set you in a fronteer mood, the food will also make you see red, white and blue: baby back ribs, juicy steaks, Atlantic salmon, pork chops, Philly Chease Steak Mac & Cheese and more.
