Challenge Your Body With New Fit Barre

Check out these body sculpting, calorie burning classes that are sweeping the nation.

If you are in a workout rut and desire a no impact yet high energy program that has the potential to transform your body, you may want to give the new Fit Barre classes at Passport Pilates a try.

Passport Pilates is offering three types of Barre classes, held inside their brand new ballet bar studio on Chickering Road or at the on Turnpike Street on Sunday mornings.

Since 2007, Passport Pilates has been offering Pilates on the Reformer to its loyal clientele, and owner Kathy Jannino is now thrilled to incorporate Barre Method classes into their regimen. These classes have the added benefit of an increased cardiovascular workout which raises the heart rate while simultaneously providing a valued strength training component.

“The whole concept is non-impact - all people can do it and get a great workout,” said Jannino.

Currently, Passport Pilates is the only studio in North Andover offering these muscle-shaping, body elongating classes. The concept of working out in the style of dancers has been popular across the country and has gained significant momentum in the Boston area. The concept was originally developed by former dancer, Lotte Berk, whose personal experience as a dancer helped create a program that has successfully reshaped, lengthened, lifted and toned the bodies of those participating.

Jannino is introducing two licensed classes; Barre Sculpt® and The Booty Barre® (beginning in January) as well as her own signature routine called Fit Barre that Jannino devised to have an even greater emphasis on strength training as well as intermittent abdominal work throughout the class.

To celebrate the launch of the Barre classes through Passport Pilates, Jannino is offering free trial classes through Nov. 12 and is hosting a wine tasting event at the Wine ConneXtion at First and Main Marketplace. The wine and cheese event will be held this Friday, Nov. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. and will feature raffles, class information and, of course, delicious wine.

If you are interested in trying a class, you must reserve a seat as the studio can accommodate a limit of 15 participants. It is Jannino’s commitment to keep class sizes small to allow for the greatest possible attention to each client’s form and proper execution of each exercise. Instructors are expected to assist the class versus taking part in the workout themselves.

“Here is where I am going to stay different,” said Jannino. “Instructors should be watching people form and keeping them safe. We are going to keep you safe, we are going to challenge you and we are going to care.”

Reservations can be made online, by phone or in person at the Chickering Road studio.

Passport Pilates is located at 567 Chickering Road, Chickering Plaza on Route 125. The phone number is 978-688-0100.  Visit their Web site at www.passportpilates.com for more information or to schedule a class.
