Bollywood Grill Represents Indian Cuisine, Cinema

Since 2005, Bollywood Grill has been North Andover's "go to" spot for Indian Food.

Bollywood, like Hollywood, is one of the world’s largest film industries.

Based in Mumbai, India, the Bollywood portion of the Indian film industry features epic musical creations, extravagant costumes, remarkably choreographed dance routines and numerous films that are watched throughout the world.

Bollywood Grill captures the feeling of a cool cinema with its décor of Indian film actors and actresses. So right below your crunchy pakoras might lie a superstar like Amitabh Bachchan or Kareena Kapoor.

For patrons not familiar with Indian cuisine, Sahil Singh of Bollywood Grill made a helpful recommendation.

“That would be Chicken Tikka Masala, which comes with rice and plain or garlic naan,” said Singh.

Chicken Tikka Masala is a creamy tomato curry with boneless chicken cubes. Naan is a warm, fluffy bread baked in a clay oven.

For diners more familiar with Indian food, Singh described another dish.

“I would recommend the Samosa Chaat,” he said. “It’s basically a very famous dish in India which is a special of ours,” he continued.

Samosa Chaat is often served as a hearty lunch on the streets of Mumbai. It features potatoes, chickpeas, fried dough, onions, coriander, hot spices, and a yogurt dressing.

As for drinks, Singh was quick to recommend another appetizing item.

“The Mango Lassi is a famous drink; it’s like a mango shake,” he said.

The drink is yogurt based which is gaining popularity worldwide. Its key ingredient is mango pulp.

Formerly known for its lunch buffet, Bollywood Grill has moved on to a lunch menu.

“We do a lunch menu and you get a complimentary soup with that,” said Singh. “Basically it’s our regular menu. The prices and dishes are a bit smaller.”

Another new feature at the restaurant is the Bollywood bakery.

“We’re doing a bakery in Bollywood,” said Singh. “We’re doing some new pastries and wedding cakes,” he continued.
