An Uncommon Shop

Where else in town can you find a vintage typewriter and gorgeous leather sofa?

A couple weeks ago during the Santa Parade downtown, you may have noticed a new shop on Main Street.

The Uncommon Home is a new furniture store that just opened at 85 Main St. But don't expect a Pottery Barn atmosphere. The Uncommon Home sells special pieces ranging from 75-year-old chairs to Asian desks and homemade pillows.

"North Andover has been so welcoming," owner Eileen Powers said, adding that nearby business owners have stopped by with gifts already.

And that's why she chose North Andover as a new home for her business.

"I'm from North Andover and was very excited to see retail space as lovely as this available," Powers said.

The Uncommon Home carries new pieces made by local crafters as well antique pieces with old world style. Powers is also a practitioner of Feng Shui, the art of energy-based furniture placement.

Store hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 11 am - 5 p.m.; Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday and Sat 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

So stop by, say hi, and check out their stuff. You can follow them on Facebook too.
