North Andover Schools Rank Not-So-High on Magazine List

The magazine's annual list is out.

As the kids head back to school, parents often think about the quality of their community's schools.

Boston Magazine recently published its 2013 "Best Schools" list, and North Andover didn't fare so well.

Editors at the magazine ranked Greater Boston school districts using data from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education relating to student-teacher ratio, cost per student, college enrollment, test scores and more.

Of 147 communities, North Andover barely made the top 100 at 90th place. North Andover schools have an average class size of 22 with a 16/3 student-teacher ratio. About 87 percent of local high school graduates attend college.

In 2012, the magazine ranked North Andover schools at number 59 out of 135.
