'Lazarus Rising' Films at Rolf's

The locally-produced independent film rocked the local hangout Wednesday morning.

If you were walking by Rolf's on Main Street Monday morning, you may have noticed actor/comedian Lenny Clarke in a priest uniform.

No, Lenny Clarke has not found a new calling. He was there acting in a film produced by North Andover-based Wild Beagle Productions.

"Lazarus Rising" is a film about an assassin who must deal with an order to kill his own assassin girlfriend while handling his heroin-addicted brother.

At Rolf's, the crew filmed a scene in which a drunk priest (played by Clarke) rants about hellfire to the trio.

You'll recognize the bartender. He's Andover Fire Lt. Michael O'Neill, a regular face in town and an advocate for veterans.

Asked if he was ready for Hollywood, O'Neill laughed and said he was tired of Hollywood already. It was 90 degrees with no air conditioner, and he and the crew had been on set for more than five hours. You wouldn't be able to tell, though, because their scene went flawlessly.

Director John Depew said the film will wrap up filming within a few weeks, and should be released to film festivals early next year.
