When is Trick-Or-Treat in North Andover?

Tell the kids to get ready for candy-gathering fun.

For the first time in three years, trick-or-treat will be held on Halloween.

Selectmen voted 4-1 Monday night to set trick-or-treat hours for Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Selectman Tracy Watson was the one "no" vote, saying that many moms have requested trick-or-treat be set for a Saturday, like in previous years. Watson emphasized that she has nothing against Halloween.

Selectman Dick Vaillancourt pointed out that when he was a kid trick-or-treat was always on Oct. 31.

"Not everybody has the luxury of being home," Watson replied. "It's different from when you and I, Dick, were trick or treating. People get panicky about it."

Of course, this can change if weather misbehaves. If you recall, it was interrupted last year by Hurricane Sandy.

What are your thoughts? Should trick-or-treat be on a Saturday when it's more convenient for working parents? Or should it be on Halloween every year? Discuss in the comments below.
