By Kelly Packard.

Calling all wiffleball fanatics! The ninth annual Tourney for Tim Wiffleball Tournament is scheduled for 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at North Andover Middle School. Proceeds from the event will support the Timothy P. Roberts “Reeling in a Dream” Fund, which benefits Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

All ages and skill levels are welcome. Teams are made up of two to five players who can choose to play in the fun Amateur Division, competitive Pro Division or Family Division, which requires at least one adult and at least one child younger than 12. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged at www.ReelingInADream.org, and is $75 in advance or $100 on tournament day. Space is limited to 52 teams. This year’s festivities also will include a BBQ, music, basket drawings, a home run derby, and kids zone.

After the first Tourney for Tim was held, Timothy Roberts succumbed to cancer on August 25, 2005. The event continued in 2006 as not only a fundraiser, but also a celebration of Tim's life and spirit. The purpose of the Timothy P. Roberts “Reeling in a Dream” Fund is to help improve the experience of young adult cancer patients at Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic through programs and experiences not within the scope of traditional medical care.
