Sox Trophy Coming to North Andover Friday

Head to the Senior Center in the morning to spend a moment with baseball history.

Two months after the Boston Red Sox won the 2013 World Series, their trophy is coming to North Andover.

State Sen. Kathleen O'Connor Ives -- Senate Chair of the Legislature's Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development -- has arranged for the Major League Baseball Commissioner's Trophy to be on display Friday morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the North Andover Senior Center.

"It’s great that the Red Sox organization is able to display the trophy in communities throughout the region," O'Connor Ives said. "I'm happy they were able to bring the Commissioner's Trophy to the Merrimack Valley during the holidays at a time when so many families are gathered together and will have the opportunity get to take a memorable photo with it."

The trophy will also make stops at Methuen High School and Amesbury High School.

You can go and have your photo taken with the trophy and celebrate the Sox victory.

"We enjoy bringing the trophy and the joy that surrounds it to the communities who support the Red Sox so passionately," Red Sox Executive Vice President Charles A. Steinberg said. "During the summer, so many families and friends connect with the Red Sox--and with each other--at Fenway Park. During the  winter, we enjoy bringing our 'Road Show' to fans in their hometowns as well. We enjoy making house calls."

The Sox won the World Series in October with a Game 6 victory at Fenway Park against the St. Louis Cardinals. This was the first Fenway Park World Series Victory for the Sox since 1918.

"The Red Sox are an institution that draws millions of visitors to Massachusetts each year," O'Connor Ives said. Senate Chair of the Legislature's Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development. "By celebrating the trophy we are celebrating this year's victory, the team's success, and the organization's historic stewardship of Fenway Park, which is part of their lasting contribution to the region."
