On Thursday, Oct. 11, the Annie L. Sargent Elementary School held its second annual “Fun Run to Help Run Sargent” event. The school-wide fundraising event featured a tenth-of-a-mile track on the school’s side field. Each grade ran or walked the course for 25 minutes, while music played and fellow students cheered. The students were sponsored a monetary donation by friends and family, for each lap completed during the event. Numbers this year are expected to surpass last year's, though won't be definite until all donations are in.
Over 115 parent volunteers took part in the event, and many teachers and staff members ran alongside the students. The event has once again been the primary fundraiser of the year due to the generous support of the Sargent staff, families, and students. Proceeds from this event go directly to important programs such as, classroom enhancements, teacher support, playground maintenance, family fun nights, and many more valuable programs.
