Harvard Helps Iraqi Children on Non Sibi Day at Phillips Academy

Operation Backpack.

The Harvard Club of Andover is teaming up with Parents of Students at Phillips Academy (PSPA) to donate school backpacks to orphaned school children in Iraq on Non Sibi Day, Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 8:00 am – 12 noon at George Washington Hall, Phillips Academy on Chapel Avenue.

For “Operation Backpack,” we are asking local donors to bring backpacks and school supplies to George Washington Hall at Phillips Academy. Backpacks for boys and girls ages 6-12 and school supplies like calculators, notebooks, writing supplies are needed. These donated items will be flown to Iraq and delivered by US Marines on duty in Iraq. Mohammed Harba, Phillips Academy faculty, is coordinating this effort to help educate children orphaned in Iraq.

“Non Sibi Day” is a day of global service at Phillips Academy; “Non Sibi” is Phillips Academy’s motto meaning “Not for Oneself.”

The Harvard Club of Andover welcomes new members who are graduates of all Harvard University schools, faculty members or administrative staff. The HCA sponsors a variety of educational, cultural, and charitable events year round. The HCA is also involved with scholarships and philanthropic projects, and annually grants the Harvard Book Award at local high school graduations.
