Foot of Snow Possible for North Andover

Winter is starting with a punch.

Winter doesn't officially start until next week, but nature seems to have started early, with a cold snap and the region bracing for its first snowstorm of the season.

And that could mean a foot of snow for us.

The storm is expected to start Saturday afternoon with light snow becoming steadier by Saturday evening. And that's when the heavy snow will begin, late Saturday into Sunday morning.

Forecasts seem to vary depending on area of the state and forecast source, but one thing is clear -- North Andover will see more snow than other places.

Pete Bouchard of WHDH writes on his blog: "One area that remains virtually untouched by warming from the ocean or aloft is outer Rt. 2 through the Merrimack Valley and into S. NH and Maine - it's all snow for you."

WHDH has North Andover in the 10-14 inches range. WCVB and WBZ both say 8-12 inches. Fox 25 has us at 6-10.

Plows will be out clearing the roads throughout the storm, and residents should stay off the roads if possible.

Check Patch for updates throughout the storm.
