Ventriloquist to Attend International Vent ConVENTion"

Local ventriloquist Steve Devitt,of North Andover to attend the 38th Annual ConVENTion , an event wfairith over 600 ventriloquists.

Each year the ventriloquists gather for their annual international convention sponsored by the Vent Haven Museum, the world’s only museum dedicated to ventriloquism. ___ Steve___ will attend the gathering from July 16-19, 2014. Attendees come from as far away as Japan, Germany, Australia, South Africa, India, England, France, and Israel as well as from across the United States.

Top professionals in the business such as Comedy Central star Jeff Dunham, Willie Tyler and Lester, Tony Award winner and SOAP star Jay Johnson, Todd Oliver, Jim Barber, Lynn Trefzger, and classic TV star Jimmy Nelson will either be lecturing or performing.

The Vent Haven ConVENTion features lectures and workshops to help ventriloquists at all levels develop their craft as entertainers.

The theme this year is comedy writing. Lecture topics also include marketing ideas, showmanship, puppet manipulation, sound systems, and emceeing. Nightly shows feature top professionals in the business. There is even an emphasis to get youngsters involved with the Junior Vent University, a hands-on session with individual instruction for young practitioners of the art. Amateurs who would like stage experience can participate in Open Mic sessions to try out techniques learned during the convention.
