St. Michael School Competes In Greater Lawrence Academic Bowl

Saint Michael School is participating in their second Greater Lawrence Academic Bowl. This year Saint Michael School is paired with Guilmette School in Lawrence, their team name is the Super G's. Saint Michael School has finished two of the five tournament matches.  They are currently ranked in the top half of the competition.  The students (7th and 8th graders) were selected by taking a qualifying exam comprised of questions in history, geography, mathematics, science, literature, current events and humanities. Students are expected to know everything from the Massachusetts Common Core Curriculum from K-8.  The focus area for study this year is America from 1850 - 1900.  This time period includes the Civil War, Westward Expansion, Industrialization, beginning of women's suffrage, Gilded Age and lots of inventions including fingerprinting in crime solving. The next match will be held on Tuesday February 25th at the Guilmette School.
