Middleton Sixth Graders Choose Name of New Police Dog

Sixth graders at Howe-Manning Elementary School were a part of town history last week when they were commissioned to choose the name of Middleton’s new police dog. The Middleton Police Department visited the sixth grade DARE class to educate them on the department’s new K-9 unit, and have them vote on the name of their new police dog. The students got to choose from three dog names: Gideon, Kobar and Kai. Police Chief James DiGianvittorio, K-9 Officer Peachey and DARE Officer Mcparland tallied the votes, and the students decided on Kai as the name for the dog. This will be the Middleton Police Department’s first K-9 unit, which they received through a grant from the Stanton Foundation.
