Greetings and Happy New Year (ok, last time I use that phrase until 2014. Promise)
No silly stories, guilty pleasure or observations for you. Today I am writing to inform you that Can I Be Frank is going from print to radio.
Well, sort of.
Over the recent holiday weeks I have been in conversations with radio station WCAP 980AM about the possibility of hosting a program.
Last week we shook hands and it is becoming a reality. My long time friend and college roommate Mark Rogers and I will be co-hosting a program titled, "Frankly, We Missed the Mark -with Frank & Mark. A little information...a lot of laughs" that will be broadcast live on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00PM.
Our first show is scheduled for Thursday, January 10.
The spirit of the show will be to entertain but, as business people and entrepreneurs, Mark and I want to deliver content for professionals as well. We have slotted several segments that will cover business, technology, and non-profits/charities.
For our first show we have 2 guests scheduled; Massachusetts State Rep. Tom Golden (D - Lowell) and local comedian Dave Russo.
Our goal is to promote (through information and laughs) the Merrimack Valley and all the great things that are happening in the area and around the globe.
We are open to callers, guests, and ideas for the show...so don't be shy. If you have something fun, funny or insightful to offer...the lines will be open! 978.454.490
Just a few of the segments planned for the show include:
This Week’s News – a review and discussion of what is making headlines locally and nationally that week – sports, entertainment, politics, etc.
App-solutely Awesome – listeners call-in to tell about a new app or some technology that is making their life easier or more fun
I Know that Movie - we rattle off movie lines from well-known movies. We take 2 callers and match them against each other -- winner (best of 5) gets a prize.
Regrets - call in or guest segment where people tell of a recent debacle in their lives.
Would you rather? – a silly game where we pose a question to each other a challenging question game of would you rather A or B?
You won’t believe what my kid did! – call in segment about a recent entertaining happening with your child/children.
This week’s Non-Profit – Interview the Executive Director of a local charity.
There’s a business for that? – interview owners of obscure businesses that most listeners likely won’t know of.
Darwin’s Throwaways - stories from around the globe of people who have done stupid things
Soap Box –listeners (and Frank & Mark) will dedicate a segment allowing people to vent their viewpoints on any issue they felt passionate about in that given week.
You can tune in to the show at 980 AM Radio
You can also listen to the program via live stream on their website
We will have a Facebook page, Twitter feed and other social media outlets up and running very soon.
Please plan to tune in from 7:00-9:00PM
It should be some laughs!
Thanks!
