Winter Parking Goes Into Effect This Weekend

Keep this in mind from now through March.

On Dec. 1, the town's winter parking ban goes into effect.

The Order

You aren't allowed to park your car on any street in town between midnight and 6 a.m. during December, January and February.

The two tires of your car along the curb must be within 12 inches of the curb and at least 20 feet away from an intersection and 10 feet away from a fire hydrant and restricted on the following streets:

  • Stonington Street; parking on even side only.
  • Saunders Street; parking on odd side only.
  • Lincoln Street; parking on even side only.
  • Perry Street; parking on even side only.
  • Church Street; parking on odd side only.
  • Ashland Street; parking on odd side only.
  • Annis Street; parking on even side only.
  • Thorndike Road from Sutton Street to Troy Road; parking on odd side only.
  • Marblehead Street from Union Street to Middlesex Street; parking on odd side only.
  • Union Street from Beverly Street to Marblehead Street; parking on even side only.
  • Norman Road; parking on even side only.
  • Beverly Street from Middlesex Street to Union Street; parking on even side only.
  • Beverly Street from Union Street to the dead end; parking on odd side only.
  • There is no no parking on either side of Beverly Street from Dana Street to Middlesex Street.

Penalty and Exceptions

A violation of the parking restriction order is punishable with a $25 ticket.

One exception to the parking restriction is that the order doesn't have to be enforced on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve as long as there is no snowstorm on those nights.

The sidewalk on the odd side of Beverly Street from Middlesex to Union streets is closed during these months, and you're allowed to park on the sidewalk in ths section of that street as long as no part of your car is on the road.

Side Notes

Also, there is no parking in municipal parking lots for longer than 48 hours, and cars that are parked in those lots for longer than that will be towed. And be careful of snow and ice on your car, because you're not allowed to dump snow off your car into the way of public travel.
