Where Are North Andover's Most Ignored Stop Signs?

Stop signs are not optional, but they're sometimes treated as if they are.

There are hundreds of stop signs in North Andover, but all too often, they are overlooked when drivers are in a rush.

We have all seen it and probably many would admit of a stop sign roll-through at one point in time.

How about in North Andover? The stop sign on Waverly Road near Amici's? The one near Fire Station 2 next to the Common?

Do you know of a location where a stop sign is frequently rolled through or ignored?

Share where it is in the comments section below.

I'm guilty of ignoring the Stop Sign in the Market Basket parking lot.

You must run the one too behind Staples when exiting up toward Chipolte's. LOL

The one next to Butcher Boy as you're taking a right off of Great Pond Road is tricky too... always seems like a Yield sign.

Stevens & Pleasant Street heading towards old center, I have actually been stopped there when somebody not only didn't stop but blew right by me and they must have liked me because they flashed that I was # 1 when they went by.

I disagree with Waverly and Middlesex. I never see people running the stop sign and I go through there a lot. The intersection is very unusual as it really should be a 4 way stop sign. I think people make one of two mistakes that are mistakenly interpreted as running a stop sign. First, many people don't realize Middlesex doesn't have a stop sign, and go through the intersection when people on Middlesex think they should wait. Second, people on Waverly have to creap their car forward past to see up Middlesex, and when clear, continue rolling through the intersection. That slow roll might be interpreted as running through the stop sign. This has been made better by the changes made a couple of years ago, but not eliminated. Both problems would be solved by making it a 4 way.

Waverly at Middlesex St. I also go thru there a couple of times a day and several times have had to jam on my brakes for the rolling stoppers on Waverly. And the stop sign behind Staples on Rte. 114 is completely useless. There is no route of traffic to stop for.
