What’s the Best Neighborhood for Trick-or-Treating in North Andover?
What area is known for going 'all out' for Halloween? Where can a kid with an insatiable sweet tooth clean up?
North Andover's trick-or-treating has been postponed until Saturday. But don't worry, Saturday will be here before you know it.
In any town, there are always those streets and neighborhoods known for great trick-or-treating – “King-Size” candy (which actually no longer exists), high participation rate among houses, doors close together, decorations, lots of other kids and maybe a haunted house or two.
What are these streets and neighborhoods in North Andover?

Downtown - from Main Street down to Waverly and Beverly. Harold Street (between Waverly and Marblehead has some terrific seats).

I agree with Bill...Harold St. has always been decorated and 'scary'

Bill is correct. As long a I can remember the downtown area, from Main st. to Waverly/ Beverly, has been the best. When my kids were little the would fill king size pillow cases with candy and that wasn't the best part. It was the decorated houses and friendly neighbors that made Halloween in that area enjoyable.

Are you kidding me? This request is a BAD idea. Neighborhood knowledge and folklore reside with the neighbors, families, and children in those neighborhoods. This is passed from family to family, older sister to younger brother, and discussed/debated on the buses and on the playgrounds. Please protect this tradition, and don't trade it away, or cheapen it by posting on the inter-webs.

Here's an idea...why don't families trick or treat in their own neighborhoods where they know their neighbors and friends? Isn't the whole idea for kids (read: not adults) to go around their own neighborhood, visiting, showing off their costumes, and getting a treat for their efforts?

hmmm, I didn't look at this as a way for people to 'travel' to trick or treat. I thought it was just a fun thing. After all, if people are just going out to 'score' candy, they'd probably just go to one of the apartment complexes off Chickering Rd.

I don't understand why everyone is all up in arms about this. We all have heard of or sadly lived in neighborhoods that don't get into the spirit of Halloween or rarely have neighbors willing to participate. I think it's a great idea to showcase the streets and neighborhoods that celebrate in a really fun way and add to te night. If you don't like it stay where you are. I'm sure they don't want your bah humbug anyway. I know my daughter is going to appreciate the downtown area tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!
