What I love most about North Andover is the rich history in the town. So many beautiful places and spaces all with a story to tell. I love the old common and surrounding area, it is so beautiful. I love that it was a safe and magical place for my children to grow up. They were able to play outside in nature and enjoy so much. I love that they were able to grow up on the farm that many generations of our family have lived in giving them a true sense of belonging to this place called North Andover, they are some of the last true townies.

I have to agree with Maria, our town's history is woven in its magnificent and beautiful vistas, historic buildings and an interesting and diverse political and economic population, that works together on making their community a great place to live. While not a Townie, over the past thirty plus years I am proud of the accomplishments of our community in investing in needed schools, a water treatment plant, a new police station, an expanded library, a refurbished town hall, youth and senior centers, an old common, enjoyed by so many, and those people in town (new neighbors and townies) who worked together on these and so many other good things for our town.

It's been over 40 years since my chosen career required me to move away from North Andover, but I'll never forget the place. Growing up in "Tavern Acres" in the '40s and '50s was a wonderful experience.
The neighborhood was ideal for kids. We were within 2 blocks of the Stevens Memorial Library, The Veterans Memorial Park and at least 3 large grassy fields on which we could play football, baseball or any other outdoor games. There were lots of families with kids our age and lots of older folks too. It was Americana like Norman Rockwell knew it.
Patrick Holloway's photo of the Stevens Estate gate house brings great childhood experiences back to my 71 year-old brain. My uncle Bill Arsenault and his family lived in that house for several years in the early 1950s. I can recall playing in that yard with my cousins, brother and sisters.
Thanks for the memories!

We moved to North Andover in the late 1970's for the "country" appeal of a small New England town and never looked back. Our boys came along and flourished starting with pre-K at the Bradstreet School and continued through the middle school. They were both very active in sports and enjoyed riding their bike rides to the General Store, soccer, skiing at the "Bradford Bump", basketball, Stevies Pond, etc., etc., etc. Although they both went to Saint John's Prep, they always kept their friends who they grew up with. When we decided to move in 2002, we asked the boys if they minded and they said NO, as long as we stayed in North Andover!!! That says alot for this town and I hope future families will enjoy the same experiences. We will always love the town, even though it is not such a small town anymore!!!!

History is so accessible. Visit the Burying Ground and think about the earliest settlers in 1645. Open space is so accessible. Clean air, good water from the lake, clear skies at night. Echoing Bob, a vibrant community of volunteers who work together to keep improving our town.
