Town Seeks Purchase Proposals for Bradstreet School

Are you in the market for a building?

Town Manager Andrew Maylor's office is seeking proposals for purchase and development of the Bradstreet School.

Town Meeting approved to sale of the school, which has been vacant for years.

The draft Request For Proposals can be found on the town’s Web site at www.townofnorthandover.com.

"It is the objective of the Town that the Property be developed at a scale appropriate to the site, consistent with neighborhood characteristics and in compliance with existing zoning and other restrictions set forth in this RFP. However, the Town recognizes the need to create the highest and best use for its assets and welcomes creative alternative development schemes," it reads.

Public comments on the matter are being considered through Sept. 24. Public comments should be emailed to townmanager@townofnorthandover.com or mailed to Town Manager’s Office, 120 Main St., North Andover MA 01845.

In my perfect world, the town would sell the property as is - without any concern of what the buyer might try to do. That's what happens when the property next door get's sold.

The town should allow bids without any development proposal attached. That way, the public can compare the selling prices in each case.
