The Stevens Estate – Special Events and Conference Center

New Director, Erin Flannery, shares what's new.

The Stevens Estate is a North Andover landmark that welcomes guests for events ranging from small business luncheons to elegant weddings featuring the grand 1886 estate as a dramatic focal point.

Built by Moses T. Stevens, the Stevens Estate was maintained by the Stevens family until the 1950s. It was later donated to Boston University and in 1995 was purchased by the Town of North Andover. The Victorian era building is one of few remaining and holds a place on the national Register of Historic Places.

The 153 acres of wooded grounds that surround the Stevens Estate create a lovely environment for all types of private events. The majestic venue provides a tranquil and picturesque setting that is full of character and old world charm.

While many in and around North Andover know of the estate’s history and event potential, this year the estate is under the new direction of Erin Flannery. Flannery brings with her 10 years of event planning experience having managed events in New Hampshire country clubs as well as the Boston area. She has a creative eye and great ideas to assist her clients in planning a memorable occasion.

Wedding season is right around the corner so Flannery’s immediate goal is to give the brides and grooms the quality care for which the estate is known. “Keeping things consistent is going to be our focus right now,” Flannery said.

She is however excited about introducing some new ideas for the future. While the estate is well known for its weddings, they also host many other celebrations including showers, christenings, Bat & Bar Mitzvah’s, holiday parties, corporate retreats and more.

Flannery would like to plan for more Quinceaneras as well as to diversify the type of weddings that come to the estate. Flannery, who is planning her own wedding, recognizes the unique beauty of the estate.

“You look at so many places,” she said. “And then you look here and think, 'I could do so much with it, make it personal, make it homey' - It’s not just a ballroom.”

The estate has much to offer and this summer the estate is reopening its in-ground pool, which had been closed for the past two years. The pool, in addition to activities like bocce, volleyball, horseshoes and hiking make for a great day at the mansion whether you are planning a summer outing, corporate function or private pool party.

In the spirit of getting creative, Flannery is tossing around the idea of creating a dog walking network. Many dog walkers already use the beautiful property to get in touch with nature and give their pet a great place to run. Creating a program where these walkers can come together to enjoy their pets, the outdoors and the estate is something that Flannery foresees down the road.

Flannery looks forward to an exciting season ahead and is in the process of planning a summer cookout. The cookout  will be open to the public and an opportunity to stop into the estate and see all that it has to offer. Further details will be forthcoming. Flannery hopes to hold two to three of these types of welcoming events each year.
