Recently, the fifth graders of the Sargent School collected 924 suitcases, duffel bags and backpacks for the foster children in the Merrimack Valley as part of Suitcase4Kids.

Founded by North Andover resident Ron Nickerson, Suitcases4Kids is a nonprofit group that collects suitaces for foster kids so they won't have to carry their belongings in plastic bags. The effort seeks to give foster kids a sense of security and dignity.
