The day after Hurricane Sandy sent a barrage of forceful winds and heay rains to New England, skies are blue again but North Andover is cleaning up the mess.
Power is still out for many. Latest estimates are that about a quarter of the town has no power. North Andover Emergency Management Director Jeff Coco said that a lot of Route 125 still has no power. Crews are working in that area now.
"We had nobody overnight (working on power restoration), which is unfortunate because a lot of senior housing and nursing homes were out of power all night," Coco said. "That has yet to be restored."
The Police Department is operating on a generator. Crews will be working throughout the day to restore power to the town.
"We're slowly starting to recover," Coco said.
