The town is observing Memorial Day, a day to honor fallen heroes, with a parade and ceremony this morning.
The Parade will form on the Common at Andover and Osgood streets at 10 a.m. and will go right onto Massachusetts Avenue. It will turn left onto Salem Street and stop at Ridgewood Cemetery for a Memorial Ceremony.
The ceremony will recognize the 200 years since the War of 1812 and the 70th year remembrance of the Bataan Death March, and this year’s Memorial Day will be dedicated to the memory of Technical Sgt. James Harvey, who was a prisoner of war and survived the Bataan Death March.
After the ceremony, the Parade will proceed back to the Common and disperse from there. There will be a flag-raising and reception at the VFW Post 2104.
If it rains, services will be held in the Middle School Veteran’s Auditorium at 10:30 a.m.
