Local Places to Find Halloween Goodies
Shopping locally isn't scary.
Halloween is in just a couple weeks. Still wondering what costume to wear or where to find it? Or where to get stuff for a Halloween party? Why go to the big party stores or the malls when you can shop locally?
Here are five places to get your Halloween needs.
Costumes: Kids spend weeks -- sometimes months -- planning what to be for Halloween. You could go spend big money at the party stores to get a costume your kids will only wear once, or you could head over to Kids Karousel. Co-owner Sylvie Foulds says they have lots of costumes there. And at Kids Karousel you're likely to find them at lower prices than many other places.
Candy: Another must-have for any Halloween is candy. You can head to CVS and pick up bags of candy of various kinds. Or you can go to Ye Olde Pepper Candy Companie for some homemade sweets. For trick-or-treaters, It's best to buy the packaged candy rather than unsealed candy, because it's less for parents to worry about.
Gifts: Going to a Halloween party? Having a Halloween party? You'll need party gifts and decorations. Head over to Rose & Dove. They have Halloween hostess gifts and home decor, and right now it's 15 percent off.
Pet Costumes: Don't leave your pets out of the fun. You can buy them costumes -- if they'll wear costumes -- at Ciao! Bow Wow in the Butcher Boy Plaza. Ciao! Bow Wow has a wide selection of fun costumes for your dog or cat and even some treats (if you're going to make your pets wear a costume, you'll want to give him or her some treats for being a good sport about it).
