Local Meal Deals for Veterans
In honor of Veterans Day 2012, a few local restaurants are offering discounts for military service members.
Since 1919 we have been celebrating Veterans Day. It was President Woodrow Wilson who first introduced Armistice Day in honor of our military.
In 1954, Congress helped to rename the holiday “Veterans Day,” and ever since, we have used this title to hold parades, give thanks, and honor the men and women who have served in the United States military.
North Andover will be holding its Veterans Day Parade today beginning at 9:30am at the First & Main Plaza. It will stop at the Patriots Memorial Park for service before heading towards the VFW on Main Street where a flag will be raised.
A few local restaurants are offering deals to current and former military members. Stop by the Ninety Nine or wait until tomorrow to visit Denny’s or Friendly’s.
The Ninety Nine Restaurant, on Chickering Road in North Andover, offers a discount to current and former military members every single day it is open.
Service members are given a 10% discount on food when they show a military I.D.
The Ninety Nine, recently remodeled, will be open through 10:30pm tonight. Click here to view their menu and check out their Facebook page for additional deals and offers.
Over at Denny’s, located at 160 Winthrop Street, an arguably unbeatable deal will be going on Monday.
Between 6am and 2pm, all active, retirees, and veteran service members will be offered all you can eat, free pancakes.
Every Denny’s in the nation is offering this deal as part of their Veterans Day Appreciation event. Don’t forget to bring a military I.D.
Also on Winthrop Street, Friendly’s Restaurant has a breakfast deal on Monday morning.
During breakfast hours, active military and veterans receive a free breakfast.
Click here to check out the Friendly’s menu.
And as always, we at Patch thank all veterans for their service to our country.
