It's been almost a month since school started, and already our calendars on our iphones, ipads or droids seem to be full with soccer, music lessons, dance, gymnastics and such. We need an App to make sure we know when to be where.
As a mom, Deborah D'Onofrio, Reiki Master Teacher, and Intuitive Counselor said "We need to insert sanity and peace in our day."
D'Onofrio offers Reiki and Intuitive sessions at Serenity Massage, 43 High St., Fridays and Saturdays by appointment. She said she can even offer moms a half hour session while their children are at soccer or at piano lessons.
Originating in Japan, Reiki is a "technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by 'laying on hands' and is based on the idea that an unseen 'life force energy' flows through us and is what causes us to be alive," according to the ICRT (International Center for Reiki Training).
D'Onofrio said Reiki is an effective stress reliever, pain management tool, and has been used to help people prepare and recover from surgery as well as help with chemotherapy and dialysis. She explained that more doctors and nurses are now using it in the hospitals.
"Not only does Reiki help us heal better and feel better, but it has the potential to bring us more deeply in touch with the spiritual dimension of our lives, and with that comes a pround sense of peace, well being and contentment," she said.
As an Intuitive Counselor, D'Onofrio helps others by "seeing into the heart of what is happening in one's life." She will then suggests practical tools "to empower, transform and move into a greater wholeness, awareness, ease and purpose."
She said that she often integrates the two treatments for a more holistic approach.
D'Onofrio also teaches Reiki and can also teach people how to develop their own intuitive abilities.
