Five Things You Need to Know: Sept. 10

Today is Monday, Sept. 10. Here are five things you need to know:

  • Sunny Day: Temperatures are expected to be around 70 degrees most of the day, with clear sunny skies.
  • Meeting: The Board of Selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
  • Letters: The general election campaign is in full-swing now. Make your voice heard. Submit Letters to the Editor to Bryan.McGonigle@patch.com.
  • District 6: NPR ran a feature on our congressional race.
  • This Day in History: In 1942, President Franklin Roosevelt mandated gasoline rationing as part of the wart effort. In 1953, Swanson began selling its first "TV dinner." In 1955, "Gunsmoke" premiered on CBS. In 1963, 20 black students entered public schools in Alabama at the end of a standoff between federal authorities and Alabama governor George C. Wallace.
