- Letters: The nominees for Unofficial Mayor of North Andover are finalized, so make sure you vote (and tell all your local friends to vote) in the poll to pick the winner. And if you want to speak out for one of the candidates, post a letter to the editor by sending it to Bryan.McGonigle@patch.com.
- This Day in History: In 1689, Boston residents ousted Gov. Edmond Andros. In 1775, the American Revolution began as fighting broke out at Lexington, Mass. In 1897, the first annual Boston Marathon was held. In 1951, Hiroshima bombing survivor Shigeki Tanaka won the Boston Marathon.
