It's that time of year again. The leaves are starting to change color. The air is getting a little crisp. So here are five things that say Autumn in North Andover.
1. Fall Sports
Autumn in North Andover offers you the chance to go out and root for your home team without the scorching heat of summer. It also offers a wide variety of sports to watch, from football and soccer to golf and field hockey.
The Scarlet Knights have marched into the fall with their eyes set on conquest. After a rough first game, the varsity football team has started a winning streak, defeating Westford last week. And this week the soccer team beat Amesbury.
2. Hayrides
What would fall be without hayrides? Smolak Farms offers hayrides all season long. Some hayrides have themes for the kids.
3. Cider Donuts
Speaking of Smolak's, one thing that screams Autumn in North Andover is that familiar taste of apple cider donuts. Smolak's is famous for them.
4. Foliage
North Andover offers many places to check out the colorful foliage. There's Harold Parker State Forest, there's Lake Cockichewick, there's Weir Hill, there's the Ward Hill Reservation and even Smolak Farms. So in a couple weeks when the foliage peaks, grab your camera and get out there.
5. Farms
And then there's all that fresh fall produce. North Andover has several operating farms where you can get fresh corn, pumpkins, apples and more. There's Boston Hill Farm, Roche Farmstand, Turtle Lane and more.
So don't cry for summer, folks. Just enjoy what Autumn in North Andover means to you.

for me it is walking through the leaves on lower Johnson street hearing the rustle and crunch and smelling the dry leaves. This year is not so good as the caterpillar damage to the local maple trees has been great.

how could you omit Barker Farm, one of the oldest farms in the US and include Turtle Lane (a maple syrup farm for winter/spring)?
