Do you ever think about what is in your deodorant? I did, and thinking about it changed my life.

A little over four years ago I began a journey to find a deodorant that did not have aluminum as an ingredient. Finding one without aluminum was not too difficult but finding one without aluminum that worked was. Should be simple right? No!

Why the journey? Cancer had stricken my sister at 46 years old and claimed her life at 50 years old. Cancer had stricken my mother at 46 years old and claimed her life the very same year. When my sister passed I was in my early forties with 4 children.  It was a large wake-up call for me, and I began to look for things I could control in my environment to avoid cancer. I am well aware of the multitude of things I cannot control that will affect my getting cancer or not. It was the things that I could control, the things that I could change, that led me on a journey.

I started with deodorant because whatever I was putting under my arms was going into important glands in my body. I began to think about the whole process of why we perspire and how our deodorant blocks that. We perspire to eliminate what our body needs to eliminate, right? So blocking that up cannot be good, right?

My hunt began with Tom’s of Maine deodorant. No aluminum, which is great, but effectiveness… not so great. I switched to Trader Joe’s brand and found the same thing. I tried other brands from Whole Foods and still came up with the same thing… great for my body, not so great for my social life! A friend suggested this new certified organic brand from Australia called Miessence. I had nothing to lose, so I tried it. To my amazement, it worked! I decided to try other Miessence products and fell in love with the idea of using certified organic products free of chemicals.  I became a representative for Miessence products and have people throughout the country buying aluminum free deodorant and other beautiful products from me now.
