Fatal Crash Victim was Firefighter's Brother
The weekend tragedy involved a local family.
Police have confirmed the identity of the young man killed in a car crash over the weekend, and the victim's brother was one of the responding paramedics.
Keith Jenkins, 23, of North Andover, was killed early Sunday morning when his car drove into a wooded area on Salem Street.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., North Andover Police were alerted of the accident on Salem Street. At first, no one was found in the vehicle so it was assumed the driver had walked away. But Keith Jenkins was then found outside of the vehicle.
Keith Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene. One of the EMTs on duty and at the scene after the crash was Jenkins' own brother, North Andover Firefighter Kristofer Jenkins.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Kris and his family," Fire Chief Andrew Melnikas said.
Keith Jenkins, the youngest of four boys in his family, graduated from North Andover High School in 2007.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
