Congressman John Tierney and challenger Bill Hudak eagerly showed up at the polls Tuesday morning.
As Election Day began, Congressman John Tierney and Republican challenger Bill Hudak showed up at the polls to cast their votes.
Hudak voted at Spofford Pond School in Boxford at 8 a.m.
"We campaigned hard every day for 15 hours every day for 17 months," Hudak said. "I'm optimistic that the hard work is going to pay off, and we'll wait to see tonight."
Tierney voted at Bentley Elementary School in Salem at 8:30 a.m.
"As I crisscross the district and talk with voters, supporters, and volunteers, their energy and enthusiasm are evident," Tierney said. "I am pleased to see so many voters out today and appreciate the support from across the district."
By 11 a.m., voter turnout was at 20 percent, which the town clerk said was higher than usual for a midterm election.
